Ali Ahmad Said Esber, more commonly known by his pen name Adunis or Adonis, is one of the Arab world's most influential poets.
Born in Syria in 1930, the poet is famous for pushing the limits of contemporary poetry and re-defining poetry language. Some of his most influential works include 'The Songs of Mihyar the Damascene', 'A Time Between Ashes and Roses' and 'Al-Kitab'.
